About 55 community newspaper leaders are in Tauranga for the New Zealand Community Newspaper Association annual general meeting.
The association’s conference began this afternoon with Tauranga City Councillor Tony Christiansen giving a motivational speech at the Sebel Trinity Wharf Hotel.

Tony, who has a well established international career as a motivational speaker, spoke to the delegates about his life, goal setting and attitudes; sprinkling the speech with jokes.
The conference also includes the NZCNA annual awards which honour the best of the New Zealand community papers’ news articles, photography and news websites.
